چکیده
The initial draft of this document was prepared in June 1993 by the Ad hoc Group on Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia Surveillance Systems of the Office International des Epizooties. That draft was then amended in February 1997 by the Group of experts convened at the request of the International Committee to examine issues relating to the surveillance of the disease, with particular reference to the effects of vaccination programmes on surveillance systems. This updated report includes the following: epidemiological and other factors which influence the choice of surveillance systems. Sampling and surveillance strategies. Diagnostic methods applicable to surveillance systems. The repercussions of vaccination on surveillance systems.

Resurgence of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in Nigeria.
Epidemiological reports and post-mortem examination of slaughtered cattle indicate that prevalence of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) in Nigeria is on the increase, despite annual mass vaccinations and other protection measures. The number of reported outbreaks increased from 20 in 1981 to 64 in 1988, 114 in 1989, 82 in 1990 and 52 in 1991 (January to June). Post-mortem examinations co...
متن کاملMathematical Modelling of the Transmission Dynamics of Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia Reveals Minimal Target Profiles for Improved Vaccines and Diagnostic Assays
Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) is a cattle disease that has hampered the development of the livestock sector in sub-Saharan Africa. Currently, vaccination with a live vaccine strain is its recommended control measure although unofficial antimicrobial use is widely practiced. Here, modelling techniques are used to assess the potential impact of early elimination of infected cattle via ...
متن کاملManifestation and epidemiology of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in Europe.
The authors describe the clinical profile and epidemiology of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in Europe. This disease, once considered to have been eradicated several years ago, has now become endemic in southern countries of Europe. The status of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in Portugal and Italy, and the evolution of the disease during the last ten years, are analysed in detail, in add...
متن کاملIsolation and Identification of Mycoplasma mycoides Subspecies mycoides Small Colony Bovine Biotype in Eastern Ethiopia
An outbreak of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) was investigated in the Somali National Regional State, Eastern Ethiopia, to isolate and identify the causative Mycoplasma species. Detailed physical clinical examination was performed on over 700 affected animals to select acutely sick animals for autopsy and bacteriological specimen collection. Postmortem examination and sample collectio...
